SPECTRUM
|

Thirteen months on
the design table, comes to life in 2004 with the Spectrum. The first
ever full 3 sided wrap around soleplate design.
I wanted a clubhead
that had the most efficient transfer of power that I could get. I I
wanted the ball to leave the clubface as quickly and as legally as
possible, and wanted it to feel and look like nothing that has ever
been done before. I think we got it.
This head, was the
main reason for my fall trip to the factory. I wanted to give them my
thoughts and feelings eye to eye, without a computer screen coming
between us. Due to the manufacturing process, it is almost impossible
to have a soleplate that covers three distinctive sides of the head.
Sole, backskirt and crown. It takes on a special meaning since SMT
heads are made differently than all other heads.
This unique design
afforded us the luxury of both deepening the Center Of Gravity and at
the same time, raising it. This gives us the best of both worlds.
Amazingly solid feel at impact and a trajectory that is not too high
to promote roll. I have not been as excited about any head as I am
about the Spectrum in the past 26 years.
The see through
black color gives this head instant recognition as a winner. If yu
want stylish good looks, deep penetrating ball flight and solid
feel... Spectrum is what you need.

Combination of 3
materials for the 21st Century, Beta Titanium, Compression Molded
Graphite and tungsten Copper, make for the most technologically
advanced component head for 2004.
We really went the
extra mile on this one. The combination of premium materials is
evident on this head as soon as you take it out of the box. Not only
did we feel the need to jump into the multi-material market, we set
out to dominate it through playability and quality.
It was during my
trip to the factory that I noticed dozens of different welders, all
working on the same style head. I knew that I had given myself 30
grams of weight to play with in the Babylon head, and saw that other
companies were simply welding weights inside the head near the
backskirt. It immediately occurred to me that there was no way that it
could ever be done the same on any two heads. Thus, the tungsten
copper insert in the back heel... always the same, always the same
place.
This one plays very
solid with the lowest Center Of Gravity of the bunch. It has a reduced
spin profile and a high launch angle... almost 3/4 of a degree weaker
than stated loft. So, be sure to allow for that when ordering. A muted
sound due to the graphite composite crown, will not bring attention to
the shot, but you will most likely not be hitting first from the
fairway. Tee this one up and watch it soar. It puts the fun back into
your tee shots.

Note: As of
2/19/03 The USGA has decided that the 4 degree heads DO NOT pass the USGA C.O.R.
testing in their current form. We are working very hard to fix this issue, and
will resubmit the 4 degree head as soon as possible. We will remove this tag as
soon as this issue is resolved.
This pertains to the 455 - 4

SHINNECOCK
This
is a particular favorite, and is in my bag right now. The Shinnecock features
the longest club from heel to toe. This club is so easy to line up, you will
wonder why you have been wasting your time with you present driver. Elegant tear
drop shaped soleplate leans the weight more toward the toe for the ultimate in
solid contact. This club looks fantastic, with a metallic black crown and a
unique blue "eye" right in the center, that is carried through to the
sole. Absolutely looks as great as it plays.
