Wrapped Grips
The rubber injection molded,
simulated leather, wrap style grip came into existence as a matter of necessity,
as do most products. When brand new, the leather grip has an unbeatable feel.
Unfortunately, in a short period of time they dry out and become hard and slick
and make it nearly impossible to hold on to the club. The current plastic copies
share the same problem. In addition, both are very expensive. In the late 1980's
a master pattern was made from a Newman Leather wrapped grip and duplicate
cavities were manufactured. Millions of parts were manufactured and distributed
worldwide from those cavities and the design was soon copied by others who then
claimed to be the first to make that style of grip. Actually, the concept had
its origin in California in the 1970's. The successful manufacturing and
marketing began in earnest in 1990 for Royal Grip when we made our first
seamless cavities.
Our "Classic Wrap", is
a perf style grip that comes in a Mens and Ladies version.
The Mid Size has perfs on the top
half and traction grooves on the bottom side. This is a popular grip for golfers
with larger hands and seniors.
The Junior has perfs and stars
for the up and coming stars of the future.
The Pistol Putter is a smooth
wrap with a great feel that will improve the performance of any putter.
We also offer the "Smoothee",
a smooth wrap style grip that is made from a patented rubber compound that is a
little softer than usual and has the unique characteristics of looking, feeling
and even smelling like fine glove leather. It is easy to install, will not
absorb moisture and will not unravel like the manually wrapped plastic grip with
the electrical tape on the tip.
