| Features and Benefits |
| |
* Model 770CFE irons represent the first set of irons
designed with a forged steel, CNC machined, variable thickness face
design |
|
* The 770CFE irons are designed with a
variable thickness forged face to offer golfers a little higher
ball-speed-to-swing speed ratio than is possible with a conventional
thick face iron design, but also to offer golfers a much better
off-center hit forgiveness because of the variable thickness face
design. |
|
|
* Because irons increase in loft
progressively through the set, the actual force of deflection of the
face will decrease as loft increases. To help maximize the amount of
face deflection as loft increases in the irons, the forged variable
thicknessface design changes in face material composition and
thickness. Thus, the #3 and 4 iron faces are forged from Carpenter 455
high strength steel and are designed with a variable thickness of
2.4mm/1.9mm.Then the #5, 6, and 7 iron faces are forged from 17-7
stainless steel and machined to a variable thickness of 2.5mm/2.0mm.
And the #8 through wedge faces are forged from soft 304 stainless and
machined to a variable thickness of 2.6mm/2.2mm. |
|
|
* In addition, as loft increases in a set of irons, the
actual position of impact on the face will change. To accommodate this
natural tendency in iron impact position, the thicker center section
of the faces changes in position through the set. |
|
* Thus the 770CFE irons are individually computer
modeled for face thickness dimension, face thickness position, and
face material for each iron in the set to offer the best individual
performance possible in a full set of irons. |
|
* All 770CFE faces are CNC machined after forging to
ensure precision in the face design. The CNC machining marks can be
seen on the back of each face. |
|
* The body of each 770CFE iron is designed to maximize
the area of the face available for face deflection, as well as to move
as much of the weight of each head further back from the face and
shaft centerline to assist in launch angle. |
|
* The sole design of the 770CFE is designed to keep a
large amount of mass low, but by beveling the back edge of the sole
the sole width is not so wide to ensure proper sole playability from
all types of turf and lie conditions. |
| |
* 770CFE irons are finished in a bright satin polish
finish, with all faces CNC machined for precision dimensional
specifications. |

| Features and Benefits |
| |
* 939H is designed to be a blended set of hybrid and solid
body irons for maximum game improvement in the lower lofted irons, but
at the same time to be a blended set in which ALL irons look like real
irons and not like "half-woods". |
|
* 939H features 2-piece hybrid model design construction
on the #2, 3, 4 and 5 irons for maximum game improvement and assistance
in getting the ball up, because most 5-irons today do present some
difficulty in generating a nice high shot pattern to most golfers. This
is due to the golf industry's trend toward lower lofts on all ironheads. |
|
* 939H hybrid #2, 3, 4, and 5-irons feature a custom wall
thickness designed to move the center of gravity farther back in the
head from the shaft–a proven design feature for increasing launch
angle. Such a wall thickness design is only possible through a 2-piece
hybrid construction, and hence the slightly higher cost of the #2 - 5
ironheads. |
|
* 939H irons #6 through the wedges are a conventional deep
cavity back with weighting low and toward the heel to assist in squaring
the blade at impact plus keeping the mass lower to assist with launch
angle. |
|
* A special feature of the 939H irons are the custom sole
designs for each half of the full set design. On the #2 - 5-irons, where
the nature of the design is to make a wider sole/body to move the CG
back from the shaft, the sole design is cambered (radiused) in such a
way as to keep more of the mass low on the iron. The camber thus
reduces the area of the sole that will come in contact with the
ground/turf for a greater percentage of solid impacts and fewer
"fat" shots, while the greater sole width keeps the CG low for
more ease of play. On the #6 - wedges, a true full radiused sole design
is incorporated to also minimize surface contact with the turf for more
solid shots and fewer "fat" shots for a more medium sole
width. |
|
* All 939H irons are precision investment cast to ensure
the designed wall thickness and CG locations in each head. |
|
* For golfers who truly fight getting the ball up high
enough to carry far, TWGT recommends the use of either of the .335"
tip diameter high trajectory shaft designs (GI-335 graphite or Series 5
Steel .335 tip) in the 2-piece hybrid 939H ironhead designs.
Installation of these shafts is facilitated by the specially designed
coiled metal shims. |
|
* 939H irons are ideal for the golfer who wishes to play a
full set of irons but usually hits the long- and mid-irons low and
off-center. |

| Features and Benefits |
| |
* Model 991C irons are a classic profile shape full cavity
back game improvement design for golfers who search for a high level of
off center hit forgiveness but with a classic shape and size head
design. |
|
* 991C irons also feature a slight bottom cavity undercut
weight distribution to keep a substantial amount of weight very low and
closer to the sole to assist with increasing trajectory. |
|
* 991C irons are designed with a bold rear backpad
weighting that is cut away in the center to accentuate the heel and toe
weight on the back of the head to assist with the off-center hit
forgivness of the design. |
|
* Progressive offset on the 991C ranges from 5mm on the #3
iron to a slight 2mm on the wedges. The offset is designed to not appear
too strong in the playing position, but still to allow its contribution
to slightly increasing the launch angle and allowing a slight more
rotation of the face back to square on the downswing. |
|
* Lie angles are progressive from slightly upright on the
long irons to standard on the short irons, while the high loft wedges
return to a slight upright lie to allow better set up for short shots
where the golfer grips down. |
|
* Loft angles are designed to be slightly strong, yet not
so strong as to reduce launch angle too much or make the long to middle
irons too difficult to properly get airborne. 991C includes a gap wedge
(AW-51°) to prevent any gap between yardages through the short irons
and all wedges. |
|
* Sole angles are progressive from a slight 2° bounce on
the #3-iron, but not so pronounced on the short irons to make shots from
tight lies easy to manipulate. SW is designed with more bounce at 13°
for ideal use by golfers who may have difficulty with bunker shots, as
well as for deeper to slightly softer sand conditions. |
|
* Sole design is cambered from front to back with both the
leading and trailing edges 'broken' to allow ease of play from either
bent or bermuda, as well as rye or bluegrass in the rough. |
|
* Model 991C irons are precision investment cast to allow
the shape and undercut of the back cavity to be accurately created. Head
material is pure 431 stainless steel which is heat-treated to allow ease
of loft and lie alterations for customizing, and passivation treated to
increase surface durability. |
|
* Finished in a bright smoked satin polish with glass bead
blast highlights and metallic coated back cavity surface. |
